On the intermediate canyoning tour, we propose a variety of routes that provide you with lots of thrills and the best sceneries on Madeira Island.

This is the perfect level for all of those who are adventurous and fit or have already had their first contact with this activity and, therefore, want some more excitement and thrills, whether it is with big jumps or big waterfalls.

How long does it take?

About 5 hours total. Time in the canyon is 2:00–2:30 hours, depending on the group and conditions. The rest covers pickup or meet-up, gear, briefing, and changing back.

What age is this for?

Ages 12+. A step up from Beginner. Under 12 should book Beginner.

Do I need to be fit?

You should be moderately fit and comfortable hiking on uneven, wet terrain. No special rope skills are required; guides handle the technical side. If you prefer a gentler first experience, choose Beginner.

What is included?

All certified technical gear (wetsuit, canyoning shoes, neoprene socks, helmet, harness, carabiners, descenders, lanyards; lifejacket if needed), safety insurance, permits, guides, an energy bar or chocolate, and free photos.

Pickup or meet at the canyon?

Pickup from hotel/Airbnb in Funchal or Caniço is included. Other areas on request (extra may apply). Afternoon canyons often do not include transport; this is confirmed in the details email. If you do not need pickup, use promo code NoTransfer at checkout for −15% and meet at the designated canyon meet point. Meeting at headquarters does not qualify. After booking you receive GPS, time, and details by email. Meet points vary by season (for example Terreiro da Luta, Curral das Freiras, Ribeiro Frio, Paul da Serra).

What should I bring?

Swimwear to wear under the wetsuit and a towel.

Are jumps mandatory?

No. Jumps are optional. Intermediate routes may include more challenging options and larger rappels, always at your pace with guides.
